I have been working with non profit organizations reviewing major development proposals within the 4th District for decades. These various groups have all been dedicated to protecting community character and sensitive habitat. I have been active with the San Geronimo Valley Planning Group since 1991.

What We Do

Grants: Working on behalf of the community, the Planning Group collaborates with agencies and other organizations to identify, develop, secure, and implement grant funding for Valley projects.

Environmental Impact Report: Major projects within the Valley are often complex proposals that require Environmental review. The Planning Group uses the Community Plan as a basis to determine if the Environmental Impact Report documents are consistent and compliant with the values we have created in the Community Plan

Design Review: Developments within the Valley often create ill will and misinformation, the Planning Group reviews County documents and utilizes the Community Plan to make comments on behalf of the Community

Public Advocacy: A fundamental goal of the Planning Group is to listen, and address concerns expressed by the Community especially regarding open space, overall environmental quality and the Village character we all hold so dear.

My husband Fred (Lee), son Paul and I purchased a cabin on Mt. Barnabe in Lagunitas in 1963 adding a Fine Arts printmaking studio and gallery.   I founded the Community Center in 1968; the SGV Planning Group in 1972; served on the County Parks & Open Space Commission 1977 - 1997, helping acquire four magnificent Valley open space preserves and founded Wilderness Way, an environmental organization in 1999.  I love the San Geronimo Valley! My family moved to Lagunitas in 1973.  I returned in 1989 with my daughter Vanessa, had Andrea a few years later and now have a beautiful grandson, Cairo.

I chaired Lagunitas School Savers (now LEAP) for 7 years;  I received the Golden Bell Award from the Marin County Office of Education for my efforts to bring Community support into the School District;  served on the Cultural Center Board (now the Community Center). I have been a board member of the San Geronimo Valley Planning Group since 2008.

Ken Naffziger

I moved to the Valley in 1975 and have been fortunate enough to live and work here ever since.  Around 1998 I decided it was time to give back to the Valley that had influenced me so much.  I joined the San Geronimo Valley Planning Group and have been involved in many issues over the years.  Perhaps the most important issue for me was stopping the10 million gallon water tank on Blueberry Hill.  The Group is one of the main reasons the Valley is the unique place we live in today and I am grateful for that.

Fred Mundy

I’ve had the privilege of being a Valley resident since 1980, earning a living as a general contractor.   After meeting my wife here, and buying a home, I became involved with the Planning Group and found that it served the valley’s residents, and environment,  very well.   My wish for this community is that it proceeds through the 21st century, improving and changing when it must, and preserving the best of what nature and man have previously established here.

My husband and I moved to the San Geronimo Valley in 1981. I have been a full-time Realtor since 1995 making dreams come true in the North Bay counties. I was the Charter President for the Rotary Club of West Marin and have led the club for six years. I am a member of the Healthy Community Collaborative and VERG. Being a member of the SGV Planning Group enables me to contribute to our sacred valley in a meaningful way to maintain and protect what we hold dear.

Before I could walk, my mom carried me on her back over all the Valley trails.  After dinner, as a boy, I would ask Jean where she was going.  She always said, "I'm going to Save the Valley."  That made a lifelong impression.  Now I live in Grandpa (Santa’s) house with my wife and we hike and run the trails of my youth.  The Valley is a Special Place.  I join my family in doing everything I can to preserve it for future generations to enjoy!

My wife and I moved to Forest Knolls in 1991.  We have been members of the Planning Group since that time and believe the Planning Group continues to protect and serve our community.  I have been involved in the field of Arboriculture and Land Use for 40 years and hope to contribute my knowledge in those fields for the benefit of our community.
